Summer is just about here – and with it comes British Cycling’s Sky Ride Local programme in North Lincolnshire. The popular programme of free rides, guided by trained British Cycling ride leaders, is set to kick off on Sunday 18 May with 12 more rides taking place across North Lincolnshire.
Organised by British Cycling and Sky, in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council, Sky Ride Local offers local people the chance to join organised, guided rides of varying distances and difficulties – there’s something for everyone – whether you’re building your confidence or already comfortable on a bike and looking for a challenge.
Melanie Hudson British Cycling’s Recreation Manager for Yorkshire and Humber said: Cycling’s never been more popular, and whatever your age or fitness level, it’s easy to get involved. We’re delighted to be working with North Lincolnshire Council to make it even easier for local people to get out on their bikes and have some fun this summer.”
The first ride coming up is in Scunthorpe on The Ridgeway on Sunday 18 May at 10am.
Following rides are in Brigg on Sunday 25 May and meeting at Normanby Hall Country Park on Sunday 1 June.
Watch out for other rides taking place across North Lincolnshire this summer, including from Barton-upon-Humber.
Sky Ride Local is just one of many ways British Cycling is encouraging people to get out on their bikes this summer. To find out more about Sky Ride go to www.goskyride.com and to find rides in North Lincolnshire and register to take part go to www.goskyride.com/North-Lincolnshire.

Brigg & Wolds' Coun  Carl Sherwood, Cabinet Member for Customer Services, Sport and Leisure,   said: “Sky Ride local bike rides are a great way for all the family to get out and about in North Lincolnshire. The rides have been very popular so far and I’m sure with the summer months ahead more people will want to join in. The bike rides are suitable for all abilities and you can ride at your own pace. Make sure you register on the Sky Ride website to join in.”
