BRIGG FOLK WILL BE ENJOYING A DAY AT THE RACES

Market Rasen Racecourse is gearing up for its biggest jump racing occasion of the year on Saturday (20 JULY) – Betfred Summer Plate & Journal Ladies’ Day.

With the County Enclosure already sold out, spectators are urged to book their tickets for Tattersalls and the Family Enclosure.
The crowds will be descending on the Lincolnshire racing town in large numbers for the showpiece day of high-class horse racing, shopping and fashion.  Visitors may even be serenaded by male vocalist Marc Dillon.
With £132,000 in prize-money on offer, Saturday is the richest racing day of the year at Market Rasen Racecourse, which means the country’s top horses and jockeys will be in action.
The £50,000 Betfred Summer Plate is run over two and three quarter miles and is the most significant race of 2013.  The major supporting race is the £35,000 Betfred Mobile Lotto Summer Hurdle.
Judges will decide between the finalists for ‘best dressed lady’ and the finalists for the ‘best hat’ award from those visitors who register in The Journal marquee.
The ‘best dressed’ lady wins a £150 Agatha voucher, a dine with wine voucher worth £50 for Doubletree by Hilton, Lincoln, a bouquet of flowers courtesy of Flowers by Suzanne and a bottle of Champagne.  The runner-up receives a £100 Agatha voucher, flowers and Champagne.  The third prize is a £50 Agatha voucher, flowers and Champagne.
The lady with the ‘best hat’ wins a £75 voucher to spend at Get Ahead Hats, a dine with wine voucher worth £50 for Doubletree by Hilton, Lincoln, a bouquet of flowers courtesy of Flowers by Suzanne and a bottle of champagne.  The runner-up gets flowers and Champagne.
New for Ladies’ Day in 2013 is the racecourse’s ‘After Party’.
It will take place in The Journal marquee from 5.45pm until 10pm for those visitors who purchase £5 wristbands, which will be available in all enclosures, during the afternoon.
Trade stands for visitors to browse include Get Ahead Hats, St Hugh’s Hospital, Brackenborough Arms, Branston Hall Hotel, Virgin Wines Fabulous, Cruise Holidays, Dr Lana Martin and Kenwick Park Watson of Lincoln Bailgate.
Racecourse General Manager Pip Kirkby said: “It’s a delight to be looking forward to our most important horse racing day of the year and we’re anticipating a super crowd of jump racing fans on Saturday.
“After the excitement of the horse races and the fashions, we’re inviting spectators to join us for our ‘After Party’.  There is no need for visitors to leave in heavy traffic, they can have a great party in the marquee until late.”
The racecourse is also drawing the attention of visitors to the planned closure of a section of Legsby Road between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on Saturday.
Racing is between 1.45pm and 5.15pm, with gates open two hours before the first race.
