EFFORTS CONTINUE TO FIND NEW OPERATOR FOR BRIGG AUCTION

Efforts continue to get well-known weekly auctions in Brigg up and running again, North Lincolnshire Council's Leader has stressed.
Coun Rob Waltham was replying to a question raised about the future of the former Stennett's auction/market held on Station Road, which ended suddenly in June when a notice appeared at the site saying the Thursday sales had been discontinued until further notice.
Coun Penny Smith raised the issue during Brigg Town Council's latest meeting in the Angel Suite.
She said people continued to ask her about a date for these auctions re-starting. This question had even been asked during a recent visit made to the Morrisons store in Scunthorpe.
North Lincolnshire Council owns the land used by the auction/market, and Coun Waltham said efforts were continuing to find a new operator. He thought they were now looking at the new year.  "We are chasing it up all the time," he stressed.
