QUICK START MADE ON ADDITIONS TO BRIGG'S OLDEST BUILDING

No time is being lost in making new additions to the oldest building in Brigg.
Just a week after North Lincolnshire Council announced the granting of listed building consent, work has started at the front of Sir John Nelthorpe Upper School, which is the town's only grade one listed structure. Planning permission has also been approved.
The work involves installing a new disabled access to existing doors, including new ramp and steps.
The artist's impression below - courtesy of the council - shows how the addition will look from Grammar School Road, once completed. The pictures above were taken yesterday (Good Friday).
The original school building opened in 1680/1, with Brigg Grammar being extended in 1878.
It became Sir John Nelthorpe School (a comprehensive) in 1976 - the first headteacher being H.B. (Brian) Williams who had been headmaster of BGS since 1959.
