BY PAUL JOHNSON, BRIGG LINE RAIL CAMPAIGNER
Started by Amtrak in the USA, National Train Day has now been adopted in the UK.
The date of the event is this Saturday (tomorrow - May 13).
This is an ideal time to take a trip on the Saturdays-only Brigg Line service to boost numbers.
In Britain's leading railway magazine RAIL there's a section called Stop and Examine.
This looks at the funnier side of the railway.
In the latest issue (now in newsagents) the Rail Delivery Group poster at Brigg station is highlighted with its saying Britain Runs On Great Days Out.
NF adds: There's a wry comment from Paul in the article, relating to Brigg only getting passenger trains one day a week.
