FAMILY TICKETS NEEDED ON BRIGG RAILWAY LINE

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31 BRIGG TRAIN SERVICE REPORT BY PAUL JOHNSON, FRIENDS OF THE BRIGG & LINCOLN LINES GROUP

Across the railway network it was very quiet. The 0803 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes via Brigg bucked this trend and was fairly busy, as normal. Another large clump of passengers used the train to go to Retford Low Level to catch the London King's Cross train at 0852 at Retford High Level.
Passenger numbers keeping on the train to travel on the 0803 service over the Brigg Line were: 13 Worksop, 7 Retford, 2 Gainsborough Central, Kirton in Lindsey 4 and Brigg 7
The 1203 & 1601 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes trains were quiet as normal but present were a number of new customers with Brigg Line Guides. The 1520 Cleethorpes to Sheffield Midland was busy between Cleethorpes and Habrough with a healthy number still on the train West of Brigg.
On most of the services, customers were handed  a number of Northern Rail customer survey forms to fill out and post back to collate a section of feedback, something which is vital for the database.
A number of comments came in that Northern needs to look at a family ticket for the Brigg Line to Cleethorpes, one suggestion being 5 for £50.
The Brigg station area was slightly presentable but still with pockets of rubbish and fly-tipping. This has been logged as normal with the British Transport Police.
Gainsborough Central has already had the footbridge contractors containers arrive for the new footbridge.
Details of the Brigg footbridge  made the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph. READ THE STORY HERE...
