BRIGG RAILWAY LINE REPORT FOR SATURDAY NOVEMBER 14

FROM PAUL JOHNSON, FRIENDS OF THE BRIGG & LINCOLN LINES

It was an horrendous day  for Brigg Line services with delays caused mainly be poor rail head conditions between Kirton In Lindsey and Brigg.
The 0803 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes left Brigg 27 minutes late, 1110 Cleethorpes to Sheffield Midland 7 late leaving Kirton In Lindsey, 1203 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes left Brigg 47 late, 1520 Cleethorpes to Sheffield Midland left Gainsborough Central 10 late, 1601 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes left Brigg 6 late. Only the 1836 Cleethorpes to Sheffield Midland ran on time.
This had a major effect again on customers wanting to use the train with a number of potential customers going home.
This was the 4th week of major delays on the Brigg Line.
Work has started on the new station footbridge (without the ramps).  Details keep coming our way from the contractors that cars and vans are coming each evening trying to flytip in the station area, only to come to face with the contract cabins and security guards/
Passenger numbers, despite these issues, were good with around 30 using the services on Saturday.  We hope to smash the 1,000 mark this year. Not bad for a 1 day a week service.
