BRIGG RAILWAY LINE LATEST FROM PAUL JOHNSON

BRIGG LINE REPORT FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7

As predicted it was another quiet day on the railway as a whole. Again the 0803 Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes and 1520 Cleethorpes to Sheffield Midland services bucked the trend. Passenger numbers held up very well at Brigg again.
Northern Rail customer comment cards were handed out on most services and passengers have been filling these in to log issues for the database.
The first train of the day was the refurbished 144012 Porterbrook leasing 2 car unit.
Inside the train customers have modern lighting and a automatic station announcer. This unit went down well with customers but the lack of the overhead luggage racks caused some problems. Sadly, this unit has has also had problems since it came out of the workshops a few months ago and Saturday was no different. Due to air problems the automatic toilet door decided to breakdown north of Gainsborough and the floors around the rear door were flooded with leaking water coming in through the joints in the rear cab.

BRIGG: Network Rail contractors are now on sight with their cabins for the next 12 weeks to erect the the new footbridge. The station area was clean as the perpetrator(s)  have nowhere on the station area now to dump their rubbish. Sadly they have found another area near the coal drops and this was reported again.

BRIGG LINE POSTERS: Northern Rail have kindly printed another 10 railway size posters for FoBLL, these will hopefully be going up at Barnsley, Wakefield Kirkgate, Nottingham, Scunthorpe and replacing the missing one at Lincoln Central.
