BRIGG REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 2015 - FULL DETAILS


Brigg Town Council has very kindly furnished full details of the Remembrance Day 2015 parade, church service and wreath-laying at The Monument, to be held on Sunday, November 8.
Humberside Police will be there to halt traffic during the dignified ceremony at The Monument. Some other forces in the UK will not be doing likewise this year - a fact that has attracted much comment and media interest. However, Humberside Police WILL be there, as they have been for so many years.
PARADE
The parade will form up in Station Road and will move off at 10.25am and march to the Wrawby Street entrance of St. John the Evangelist Church.
The Parade Marshal willl ensure that the parade stays close together and marches at a pace to suit the veterans
Upon arrival at the church, the Parade Marshal will halt the parade as soon as the veterans are in line with the church entrance, instruct the standards to fall out and direct them to form a Guard of Honour at the church entrance. The Parade Marshal will then give direction to the Officer/Leader of the separate units.
Service and ex-service personnel will lead the parade into church. The service will commence at 10.50am.
Directed by the Parade Marshal, the Standard Bearers will enter the church at the end of the parade.
Father Owain Mitchell will receive the Presentation of Standards during the first Hymn – from the centre aisle. Standard Bearers will be seated together at the front of the church.
The Parade Marshal will supervise the collection of Standards during the final Hymn ‘I vow to thee My Country’ and assemble the Standard Bearers on either side of the chancel steps in readiness for the National Anthem.
JUNIOR UNIFORMED GROUPS - EITHER SIDE
STARTING FROM THE TOP and WORKING DOWN  to BRIGG A.T.C. and BRIGG ARMY CADETS
ROYAL BRITISH LEGION / R.A.F. ASSOCIATION WILL STAND ON EITHER SIDE OF THE LOWEST STEP READY TO LEAD OUT.
After the final blessing, the Standard Bearers will lead out and form a Guard of Honour for the service and ex-service personnel and congregation as they leave church.
The parade will re-form in Wrawby Street, and then proceed to the War Memorial via Queen Street and Bigby Street for the wreath-laying ceremony. 

 
UPON ARRIVAL AT THE WAR MEMORIAL, TRAFFIC WILL BE STOPPED
The parade will march to the left and all the way round the Memorial
The Parade Marshal will instruct the band to mark time as it meets the end of the parade.
The parade will then continue until a horse shoe formation is formed
The Parade Marshal will give the signal INWARD or RIGHT TURN and then WREATH BEARERS FALL OUT
The Parade Marshal will assemble the Wreath Bearers in the correct order at the path leading up to the War Memorial
After the last wreath has been laid, the Parade Marshal will instruct the Parade to Stand to Attention
The Town Mayor, Coun James Truepenny, will then say the Words of Remembrance.
The Bugler will Play LAST POST (Standards to be lowered)
TWO-MINUTE SILENCE
REVEILLE (Standards raised swiftly)
The Town Mayor’s Chaplain, Father Owain, will conclude with a Blessing.
Royal British Legion, National Service R.A.F. and HM Forces Veterans will lead off - followed by  the Town Mayor – Father Owain and the Bugler
The Parade Marshal will signal the Parade to Left or Outward Turn.
The Parade Marshal will instruct the parade to move off, AND WILL INSTRUCT ‘EYES RIGHT’ AS IT PASSES THE WREATHS LAID AT THE WAR MEMORIAL
The Parade will return along Bigby Street and left into Station Road to dismiss.
