The English Heritage Blog has listed its 10 Great English Railway Stations. However, there's no place for Brigg.
No surprise at all after the removal of the roof, knocking down of all the buildings and reducing it to the status of a halt with only six trains calling on Saturdays and no passenger service during the week.
We have still got our Victorian cast iron footbridge, though - a throwback to the days when the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway, and later the Great Central Railway, regarded Brigg as a mainline station on the primary route between Manchester and Cleethorpes.

English Heritage also gives a special Christmas mention to North Lincolnshire landmark Thornton Abbey, which you can still reach by train. Follow this link
