TAKING LEAD ON DOGS

Coun Ann Eardley last night called for action to deal with dog-owners who let their animals foul the route-to-school footpath on Redcombe Lane, Brigg.
Brigg Town Council's planning and environment committee was considering Dog Control Orders, having been approached for its views by North Lincolnshire Council.
Coun Eardley said dog muck was a real problem along a stretch of Redcombe Lane, where the "muck" was a hazard for pedestrians, notably those with pushchairs and prams. She called for it to be made the subject of an additional Dog Control Order. However, Town Clerk Jeanette Woollard pointed out such Orders were only applied to "parcels of land" and not routes.
Town Mayor Coun Ben Nobbs said he could not think of any additional areas in Brigg which would benefit from Dog Control Orders.
The meeting - held in the Angel Suite Lounge - heard the grassy area on York Road was already covered by this initiative, while dogs did not seem to pose any problem at the Millennium Green, Elwes Street.
Mrs Woollard told Coun Eardley there was an existing procedure for reporting dog-fouling incidents to North Lincolnshire Council staff, including a telephone number.
