CHRISTMAS TIME FOR ACTION

Brigg Garden Centre is advertising on TV again in the run up to Christmas. Great to see, as is the all-year-round popularity of this venture, just over the West Lindsey border, off Bigby High Road.
However, it's surely high time permanent road signs were erected, directing drivers to the store - all the way from the Briggate Lodge M180/A18 interchange, through Bridge Street, along Barnard Avenue, Bigby Road and over the level crossing. Plus along Wrawby Road, for those approaching from the Hull and Barton areas.
This has been mentioned in the past but somehow fails to meet the necessary criteria: It's a business, not a tourist attraction.
Yet many of us in Brigg have been stopped by motorists unable to locate the Garden Centre. This will intensify as Christmas is coming.
People might well say that Brigg Garden Centre is a business, which it is. But in and around town there are helpful signs pointing the way to Brigg railway station (run by a profit-making company) and to Humberside International Airport, where many private firms boost their turnover by considerable amounts. These signs are there to help the motorist find his/her way. Now just consider how many drivers make the trip each week to Brigg railway station and how many wish to locate Brigg Garden Centre.
And in case you were wondering, we aren't suggesting the directional signs should be funded out of council coffers.

Hold on, Scribs!!!
We all accept Brigg Garden Centre is a crowd-puller, but we want the visitors to shop in Brigg high street shops.

Absolutely, Ken, but we are talking here about helping motorists from afar who come specially to visit Brigg Garden Centre to actually locate the place. There's no star in the sky above Brigg Garden Centre to help steer the The Wise Men shoppers to Bigby High Road.
