NEW-LOOK GLADIATOR PROVES POPULAR

Last night's official opening of the Dying Gladiator, with the cutting of the red ribbon across the front door, led to a very enjoyable and well-attended launch.
Much refurbishment has taken place under the direction of Robert Borrill, but the character of the historic Bigby Street hostelry has been retained, plus a few extras like Gladiator-themed pictures on the walls.



Many well-known Brigg folk turned out to support the first night, including Mr and Mrs Mick Smith, Mr and Mrs Nigel Beacock, Ian 'Wogger' Watson, Coun Carl Sherwood, Adrian Gibbons, Coun and Mr Jackie Brock, Richard and Robert Todd, a good number from Peacock and Binnington (including the MD), Terry and Di Johnson, and many, many more. Sorry we can't name each and every one of you.
The two real ales seemed particularly popular, and the 'gents' is now accessed from inside the pub, rather than venturing outside.


A good number of staff served behind the bar, resulting in rapid and very efficient service on what was a busy night. Nibbles were provided for customers feeling peckish. We gather local tradesmen have been involved in much of the work, which is to be applauded.


Doubtless other Brigg folk who couldn't make the opening night will drop in over the next week or two to see what it's like.
