COUNDOWN TO OPENING

The first barrels of Black Sheep and Abbott Ale arrived at the Dying Gladiator in Bigby Street, Brigg, yesterday to give them enough time to settle before the re-opening of the hostelry on Thursday. It will open from about 6pm with a ribbon-cutting performed at 7pm.

I think it's called Abbot Ale..the 's' is superfluous.
Brewed at Green King Brewery at Bury St Edmund. The brewery is right in the town centre and is close to the famous ruined abbey related to the burial place of St Edmund fame...Hence the town's name.

Close by is the only surviving Regency theatre..Theatre Royal...been there a few times.

Black Sheep - by the Black Sheep Brewery who, I believed bought out Theakston's at Masham. ....just up the A1 and otherwise famous for as a gliding centre.

Overall, blinking strong ale:
Abbot Ale = 5 percent
Black Sheep = 4.4 percent

Can you take it, Nige. Better drink it in half-pint measures!!!
