NEW BRIGG REC MEANS SPORTS CAN CONTINUE OUT OF SEASON

One of the benefits of the super new facilities at Brigg Recreation Ground is that some sports can continue out of season.
There's an example coming up soon when the 'Blue Astro' all-weather hockey pitch will be used for a colts tournament by the local club.
This will take place on Sunday, June 10, from 10am until mid-afternoon.
We hope the weather stays fine and that it's not too hot for the young players.
Years ago, when hockey was still being played on grass pitches at the Rec, this winter sport drew to a close at the end of April, when cricket began.
Football also concluded at the end of April, with the goalposts being taken down. But again things have changed. There was a men's football match played on Saturday, May 12 this year while Brigg Town Cricket Club was playing a Lincolnshire League game on the nearby square.
This caused no problems, there being plenty of changing room accommodation available in the new block.
So again we should thank North Lincolnshire Council for the £2.8m investment in facilities.
Brigg sportsmen, sportwomen and youngsters can now feel very proud when they welcome visiting teams to the Rec.
However, we'd like to suggest - and not for the first time - that the council erects a new Recreation Ground sign near to the entrance on Wrawby Road.
The current one was there long before the improvements and should be replaced by a much larger one indicating what's now on offer.
This minor financial investment would complete a job very well done.

Agreed. You could add winter tennis too, as Brigg Tennis Club play under floodlights on the new courts more or less throughout the year.
