BRIGG BIKE NIGHT 2017 IN TANDEM

Brigg Bike Night 2017 will be the first of two taking place for motor-cycle admirers to enjoy.
Ours is coming up on Friday, July 7 in the Market Place and the southern stretch of Bridge Street.
The following day - Saturday, July 8 - Barton Bike Night 2017 will take place in our neighbouring town.
This will be the 21st such event in Barton and has been switched this year from the usual Wednesday slot to the weekend.
It will be interested to see whether the change made by the organisers in Barton results in even more bikers and spectators attending.
Brigg Bike Night is co-ordinated by Lucy Fensome, mine host at the Yarborough Hunt pub on Bridge Street.
Lucy is the subject of a fine feature article in the latest issue of Brigg Matters magazine, copies of which are currently being distributed to households.

Since we can't comment on your imperial/metric debate directly.....
1. A hectare is 100m x 100m = 10000 square metres...
An acre...historical, the amount of ordinary land could be ploughed by an ordinary horse in one day....hence the 8 furlongs...
2. A tonne... 1 cubic metre of water ...1m x 1m x 1m..
so if one knows the specific gravity of a substance....for example, if soil is twice the weight of water (not meant to be accurate)...2 cubic metres of soil weighs 2 tonnes.....dead simps when one wants to order, for example, gravel/cement/tree bark for a measured dug-out area.
3. Fish.....and fishing...if UK/EU had not imposed a fishing quota, there now would be NO cod/haddock in the North Sea...the NS was severely being over-fished....remember the Icelandic Cod Wars....
The UK takes 95 percent of cod from North Sea....those on the Continent have a wider fish range.
Cod/Haddock are long-lived...don't breed until maturity and can live for 40 years.....we're becoming extinct.
There was an urgent needs for fish-stocks to recover and this would take years.......now there is evidence that recovery is occurring.
Some political parties...i.e. UKIP have constantly claimed the fishing ban was just banned by the EU....rubbish.
The quota has not stopped other fishing....again, UKIP has claimed the while UK fishermen are restricted, foreign fishermen have free access to our water....yes, true...Spanish fishermen fish for Cornish pilchards, which are extremely plentiful...
Don't believe what biased political groups claim without confirming the facts...
