NEW BRIGG RECREATION GROUND OFFICIALLY OPENED - PICTURES BY KEN HARRISON

Our thanks are extended to Ken Harrison, of the Brigg Matters newsletter, for these pictures taken at the official opening of the lavishly refurbished Brigg Recreation Ground on Friday, February 17
Brigg & Goole MP Andrew Percy - Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for the Northern Powerhouse) at the Department for Communities and Local Government - had the honour of declaring North Lincolnshire Council's sporting facility well and truly open by unveiling a plaque inside the new changing room complex (pictured above).
He was accompanied by the three Brigg & Wolds councillors on the North Lincolnshire unitary authority - Cabinet member Coun Carl Sherwood, Coun Rob Waltham (leader of the council) and Coun Nigel Sherwood, chairman of the planning committee.
Also in attendance were Coun Trevor Foster, the Mayor of North Lincolnshire, and Coun Ann Eardley, Brigg Town Mayor.
Light refreshments were served in the new community room, which is at one end of the building.
Coun Carl's remit at North Lincolnshire Council includes sport and recreation. So it must have been a particularly proud moment for him.
Brigg Hockey Club began playing league games on the ground early in January. Football, netball, tennis and cricket are also catered for.
