CHANGING TIMES AT BRIGG REC
Many Brigg people can remember playing in, and spectating at, weekend sports matches at Brigg Recreation Ground - football, hockey, cricket and tennis.
Some have done so in successive decades since the 1960s.
Current Coronavirus restrictions have meant the suspension of Brigg Town Cricket Club's start to the 2020 season which should be well underway by now, with games on Saturdays.
No fixtures have been possible so far and there's little sign of that changing in the short term. So the playing square's protective rope must remain for the time being.
However, under relaxations announced last week by the government, tennis is now permitted - subject to certain procedures being in place.
No one was using the courts at Brigg Rec when we paid a visit on Sunday afternoon, see picture above.
The nearby changing room block was still displayed a notice saying North Lincolnshire Council's facility would remain closed until further notice.
We have fingers firmly crossed that things will change for the better and some summer team sport will be possible.
