Ken Harrison, of Brigg Matters magazine, has kindly supplied these pictures he took showing diners celebrating the Chinese New Year at Simon Ho's China Royal Restaurant on Bridge Street.
This is now The Year of the Rat, Ken informs us. Those born during the next 12 months will be "quick-witted, resourceful, smart and have a rich imagination, although they can be rather cautious. Overall, hard-working and with the potential to become wealthy through thrift and diligence."
Proprietor Simon is now approaching 30 years at the China Royal. Having previously worked with Harry Kar, he bought the premises in the early 1990s when Harry moved his Chinese restaurant to Old Courts Road in the building today occupied by the Mumbai Lounge.
