BRIGG BIKE NIGHT 2019 PROVES A ROARING SUCCESS

Brigg Bike Night 2019 drew a huge attendance to Bridge Street and the Market Place last night (Friday, July 5).
Brigg Blog went along to cover the event and you can read a detailed report about this record-setting event, and view many of the best pictures we took, through this link...
The town's thanks and congratulations must be extended to organiser Lucy Fensome and her staff at the Yarborough Hunt pub for putting so much hard work into making this event so enjoyable for so many people.
Valuable assistance on the night came from local LIVES group first responders.
The hot weather certainly helped draw bikers and spectators to Bike Night, and the temperature was reflected in the amount of ale dispensed, and not only from the bars at the Yarborough!
Many people also enjoyed the live band playing in the Yarborough's beer garden.
During Bike Night, many locals met up with old friends they don't see too often, Brigg Blog included.
It was good to catch up on things and relive some sporting (and pub-related) memories with ex-cricketing colleagues like Craig Holmes, Andy Longden and David Williamson.
Bike Night extended far beyond Bridge Street; indeed, the Market Place was just as busy.
Woolpack Hotel landlady Sarah Hardy's hostelry proved to be a popular port of call.
The newly-opened Lincolnshire Pizza Company Pizzeria, in the Market Place, was also busy, together with chippies and other fast food outlets.
Dunham's Bakery, on Bridge Street - renowned for its pies and sandwiches - also benefited.
North Lincolnshire Council's market stalls - put out in readiness for Saturday's market - provided some welcome additional seating in the Market Place as Bike Night visitors tucked into their takeaways.
It was good to see officers from Humberside Police in attendance throughout and adopting a softly, softly approach.
Ken Harrison, from Brigg Matters glossy magazine, was there taking pictures to feature in the next issue.
Here are some images Brigg Blog took on the night - many more can be viewed through this link...

But where the retailers to take advantage of this event.
Apart from the usual chippies and pubs/restaurants, shops were closed.
Wrawby St, at 8pm, was as busy as a good Saturday: about 50 percent of the spectators were ladies, but there wasn't a open fashion shop to be found.
Is this another example of part-time Brigg..most places closes at 3.30pm and shop-keepers complain there's no footfall...I wonder why?
