BRIGG RAILWAY LINE RECORD EQUALLED
A Brigg railway line record was equalled on Saturday (June 29).
Phill Hewson, who keeps a close eye on our town's station and its Saturdays-only passenger train service throughout the year, also maintains records of those boarding units heading east towards Grimsby and Cleethorpes and west towards Gainsborough, Retford and Sheffield. He's being doing this for some time.
Phill reports excellent figures for last Saturday, counting 77 passengers - mostly heading east.
"Most trains showed good loadings with standing room only on the first two east bound and similarly on the last two westbound," he says.
Brigg Blog reckons there were two significant factors - North East Lincolnshire Armed Forces Weekend in Cleethorpes and very hot, sunny weather which tempted some to the seaside.
