NEW BRIGG LEISURE VENUE PLANNED

A new sports centre in Brigg is planned for a building located behind a former pub.
Permission for change of use from offices to assembly/leisure is now being sought for Unit 2 Nelthorpe Business Court, Bridge Street.
That's behind the former Nelthorpe Arms which closed last year and has now been turned over to purely residential use.
The application from Brigg Kickboxing is now being considered by North Lincolnshire Council.
A statement submitted to planners says this small family-run martial arts business currently operates at Ancholme Leisure Centre, the Phil Grundy Sports Centre in Broughton and at Barton's Baysgarth Leisure Centre.
The business has taken the opportunity to lease Unit 2 at the Nelthorpe Arms Business Court "currently being used as an office" and "previously used as a function room."
The applicant stresses no alterations are to be made to the structure/inside of the property where it intends to run martial arts classes.
"We have 100 students of all ages who take part in our classes and we believe it is an asset to the area," the applicant says.
"We are currently experiencing problems with having classes at the leisure centres as we do not have sole use of the sports hall and are limited to certain date and times."
If it gains approval to use Unit 2, the business will have more flexibility over class times and hopes to expand.
Another (unconnected) application to build town houses on the former Nelthorpe Arms beer garden was recently refused by North Lincolnshire Council.
