Brigg Town Business Partnership has issued details of what's coming up in the town during autumn, Christmas and the New Year.
Many people are inquiring about the date of the Christmas lights switch-on, Lions' festive fair and late night shopping.
This will all take place on the evening of Friday, November 30, 2018.
All the stalls have now been taken, making it a sell-out success. The Lions say they came in "thick and fast."

As you would expect this time of the year is a busy one for The Brigg Town Business Partnership.
To mark the Commemoration of the Armistice of the First World War 1914-1918 a window competition was held, with many businesses in the town getting involved and mounting very moving displays. The competition was judged by a panel including a retired Lieutenant Colonel who marked them on the criteria of Originality;Impact; Relevance to Armistice and Historical context. It was very close with only a few points between the top windows so it was decided to award joint 1st place to Mason, Baggott & Garton and Orchard Court.
The Partnership are organising the town’s second Festival of Christmas Trees and Christmas Wreaths which is to be held at St John’s Church and St John’s Church Hall, Brigg between Thursday December 13th to Saturday December 15th (10.00am - 3.00pm) and Sunday December 16th between 11.00am and 1.00pm.
The event will see the Church filled with over 30 individually decorated Christmas Trees and Christmas Wreaths, all of which will be sponsored by local businesses and organisations. There will also be an avenue of trees leading from Wrawby Street to the Church entrance. Admission will be free with donations welcomed in aid of St John’s Church. Refreshments will be available throughout the four days in the Church Hall where memory cards and raffle tickets will also be available to raise money for the two charities supported by The Brigg Tree of Light. Background music will be played during the Festival.
Prior to the event closing on Sunday December 16th, a Town Carol Service will be held in the Church at 2.00pm with music provided by Barnetby Band. A collection will take place during the service and will be shared between St John’s Church and Barnetby Band. Following the service, refreshments will be served in the Church Hall – donations welcome.
On Saturday December 15th, an augmented Brigg Churches Together Choir will perform items from Graham Kendrick’s ‘The Gift’. This will be held at Café Courtyard in Brigg commencing at 6.30pm. Admission is free, however, tickets need to be obtained in advance from the Churches Together Shop at 75 Wrawby Street, Brigg with donations being welcomed on the night towards the two charities supported by the Brigg Tree of Light.
Brigg Town Business Partnership are again organising a Tree of Light which will stand in Chapel Court (just off the Old Courts car park). It will be lit from Saturday November 17that 3.00pm until Saturday January 5th 2019 3.00pm, and will be seen as a symbol of hope and comfort for many people who find Christmas a sad and lonely time.
The tree provides an opportunity for all members of the community to place a memory card on it in remembrance of departed loved ones, with cards being available from Saturday November 17th from Design Orchard,E-cig, Cure DM (Formerly Rosa), Brigg Carers’ Support Centre, St John’s Church, Brigg, Brigg Methodist Church, The Deli Diner, Co-op Funeralcare, Naylor’s Funeral Directors, Brigg Tourist Information Centre and Essence Beauty. Raffle tickets will also be available for sale from the same businesses/organisations. The winners will be announced on Saturday January 5th 2019 at 3.30pm.
There will also be a Book of Remembrance at The Tourist Information Centre for those who want to record an entry for a loved one in addition to placing a memory card on the tree and the names will be read out on Saturday, 5th January.
All monies raised will be donated to the Brigg Carers’ Support Centre who touch the lives of many local individuals and families during difficult times, and to the Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy Fight – a charity run by Cure DM (Formerly Rosa in Brigg), which helps children suffering from a serious muscle wasting condition and supports local families.
An informal dedication service taken by Father Owain will take place on Saturday, November 17 at 3pm.
and will be followed by a final service when the tree lights are switched off on Saturday January 5th at 3.00pm. All are very welcome at both services. The Partnership would like to thank Scunthorpe Rotary Club, Brigg Rotary Cub and Nisa Store (Queen Street, Brigg) for their generous support of the Tree of Light.
On Tuesday November 20th the Brigg Town Business Partnership will hold it’s pre-Christmas Meeting/Social with Mulled Wine and Mince Pies at The Buttercross commencing at 5.30pm
The event will also mark the start of this year’s Posada journey around Brigg and will also see the launch of the 2018 “Visit Brigg at Christmas” leaflet.
The Partnership will also be running the usual Christmas Window Competitions again this year which will start on the evening of Brigg Christmas Market – Friday November 30th with entry forms available from Brigg Tourist Information Centre
