FAMOUS ACTOR WHOSE FAMILY LIVED IN BRIGG IS HONOURED BY THE QUEEN

Brian Blessed, the famous actor with the booming voice and bushy beard, was presented with his OBE this week by the Queen at Buckingham Palace - for services to arts and charity.
Brian's family once lived in Brigg and he came here to record a TV programme about his ancestors which was screened a couple of years ago.
His family had lived in a cottage in one of Brigg's town centre courtyards during the Victorian era.
He was seen looking round a similar one in Chapel Court which has survived.
We wrote in August 2014:  "Brian caused quite a stir some months ago when he came to Brigg to film in the town centre for the programme. We were getting emails and text messages from townsfolk who had seen him."
