We encountered some Brigg Town Cricket Club players last night as they were leaving JD Wetherspoon's White Horse pub, on Wrawby Street.
The boys are now going to be concentrating on the league, to borrow a phrase popular with football managers.
For in the Lincolnshire County Cricket League's Bob Welton Cup, Brigg fell at the first hurdle, being knocked out by Scunthorpe team Appleby-Frodingham 2nds.
This was no surprise, as Brigg are in division four and the Steelmen are one of the leading teams in division one, and former members of the top flight!
Brigg were bowled out for 32 (in 16 overs) at Brocklesby Park, where they are again playing their home games this season. They managed to take three visiting wickets but clearly this was not a target likely to test Appleby-Frodingham too much.
On Saturday (May 7) Brigg return to league action, visiting Gainsborough to take on division four newcomers Marshalls at the Haydn Green Memorial Cricket Ground (1.30pm start).
