BRIGG TOWN COUNCIL HAS £10K AVAILABLE TO THE COMMUNITY

Brigg Town Council met in the Angel Suite on Monday to "consider amendments to the existing Grants & Donations Policy in the light of the recent increase made to the available budget from £1,500 to £10,000." 
This £10k covers the next 12 months and is available now.
For many years the council has helped local groups with small grants (up to £250) for various projects and the provision of equipment, etc. 
In every case a balance sheet has been required to show the financial situation of the applicant.
That will still be a requirement, but the council has now decided that the former ceiling of up to £250 for small applications will rise to a maximum of £1,000.
Coun Rob Waltham suggested during Monday's meeting that the money should be allocated "on a first come, first served" basis, and that he felt a £1,000 "cap" to be in order. In terms of equipment provision by an applicant, three quotes should be obtained, where possible.
Coun Carl Sherwood and Coun Penny Smith both made reference to applications coming only from non-profit-making organisations. Coun Carl said it was important they were voluntary groups.
Town Mayor Coun James Truepenny stressed that retrospective applications should not be considered. 

NF ADDS: The council aims is to help with contributions which match investment by the applicants.
