FORMER SCUNTHORPE UNITED CAPTAIN & BRIGG TEACHER REMEMBERED AT ELSHAM GOLF CLUB

A Scunthorpe United captain of the 1950s was remembered when Elsham Golf Club staged a Mixed Open event for the McGill Trophy.
After retirement Andy McGill became a publican in Brigg before training for teaching and taking up a post as a geography teacher at Westmoor School, now the Vale Academy.

An all round sportsman, he was a member and captain at Elsham Golf Club.
His widow Joyce presented the trophy following the Betterball Medal.
Geoff and Sue Lockwood of Elsham were the winners with a score of 65 net, followed by Brian and Cathy Wheatley of Elsham in second place. The Best Gross score of 74 was recorded by Paul McNicholas of Normanby Hall and Stacey Mitchell of Elsham.
