BRIGG TOWN CRICKETERS BREAK THEIR DUCK WHILE BROUGHTON & HIBALDSTOW ENJOY CUP SUCCESS

Broughton cricketer Paul Clark who performed well on May 4, 2019

Brigg Town cricketers broke their duck at the weekend - recording their first victory in 2019.
They were due to visit Immingham on Saturday (May 4) to play Cleethorpes 4ths in Lincolnshire County Cricket League Division Three.
However, Cleethorpes were unable to raise a side. So Brigg were awarded the maximum 20 points for an outright win, in line with league rules.
Brigg players celebrated their first victory since gaining promotion to Division Three in the Yarborough Hunt later that evening!
They lost their opening match and were rained off in the second with little play being possible.
Broughton Cricket Club's first team enjoyed a fine four-wicket win at Outcasts 2nds in the first round of the Bob Welton Cup on Saturday. Needing 212 for victory after tea, Broughton were indebted to 67 from Richard Green and 44 by opener Neil Simpson.
In the same competition, Hibaldstow defeated Cleethorpes 3rds 2-0 in a bowl out at the stumps after rain had made it impossible to complete the tie. Hibaldstow were 33 for one after nine overs, chasing the visitors' all-out 104, when the heavens opened.
Joe Taylor bowled well for Hibaldstow, taking five for 21 in six overs. But the villagers' hero in the bowl out was Andy Barnaby, who hit the top of middle stump with both his deliveries.
Broughton 2nds wrapped up a rapid nine-wicket Division Three home win over Messingham 2nds, whom they dismissed for only 34, all-rounder Paul Clark (pictured above) bagging six for 12 and Kavithessh Karunanantharajah taking four for 19.
