BRIGG COULD DO WITH A NEW PUBLIC FOOTPATH TO ENCOURAGE HEALTHY WALKING & HELP 10K RUNNERS

North Lincolnshire Council deserves praise for its efforts to get people out walking in Brigg and district - on the grounds of good health.
Many walking routes are publicised and some organised treks have been held.
One of the most pleasant walks is along Elwes Street, down attractive and tree-lined Cadney Road, beside the Old River Ancholme, towards the village.
Keep an eye out for herons and other wildlife.
We like to go as far as the sharp bend in the road, opposite the marina, then turn round at the pumping station and head back to town.
The only downside to this is the rather surprising absence of a footpath on either side of the road beyond the railway bridge, which means that walkers have to be wary of approaching traffic in both directions.
Could a path be added on one side of the road only? A grass verge is available.
A section of Cadney Road runs into Lincolnshire County Council's area before resuming in North Lincolnshire, so any new path would need to be a joint initiative between the  neighbouring highway authorities.
Lincolnshire County Council recently refurbished the highway on a stretch of Cadney Road, resulting in closure to traffic for some days in December.
A good job has been done, as our pictures show.
Although only a C-road, it is used by more vehicles than you might think, as we found while taking these pictures on a cold and wet Wednesday afternoon in January!

As Cadney Road is used for many 10K and other running events,  including the Royal British Legion's annual Poppy 10K and Lincsquad competitions, a footpath would also be of use to the  runners.

there is a footpath along the river to the railway bridge after that you'll have to approach west lindsy council.walkers must cross over after rail bridge to face oncoming traffic until the pump station then cross over then walk back facing traffic.
