LEGENDARY STRIKER IN BRIGG TOWN FC LINE-UP

This interesting and probably unique archive team picture from the early 1970s shows a legendary striker (third right - back row) in the familiar black and white colours of Brigg Town Football Club.
A Scot from the Glasgow area, Matt Tees was an ace goalscorer for Grimsby Town (in two spells), Luton Town, Charlton Athletic and Airdre (his first League club before moving south of the border) during the 1960s and early 1970s.
Brigg Town took on a Hull City XI in a special match at The Hawthorns.
Zebras'  trainer Joe Stallard (centre - back row) had joined the team for the picture, while manager Ralph 'Raz' Clayton is shielding his eyes against the sun.
Raz, of course, was later to guide Brigg Town FC to glory at Wembley Stadium in the FA Vase final.
Players on the front row include long-serving defender Barry 'Big Baz' Martin (third left).
This picture comes from the Ken Fisher Archive. Brigg Blog looked it out in response to a request from Brigg Heritage Centre, which is planning to stage an exhibition of sports team pictures of the past.
We will post further details about that in the future, for the benefit of the many sports fans wanting to pop along and view the displays.
