Our correspondent writes: "You mentioned the issue of parking on farmers’ market days on your blog. You have to wonder the logic of the council in planning to remove parking spaces in the Angel car park so they can be used for storage, especially when considering the sizeable area at the back of Hewson House.
In addition, many spaces are “lost” by the parking of the NHS
vehicles there out of office hours, such as Saturdays."
We nipped down this afternoon (Saturday) to check out the latter claim and found a selection of white vehicles with NHS logos on the side parked up behind the Angel. Though, it should be pointed out, there were some spare spaces available nearby.
We checked out the "NHS vehicles" issue some time ago with North Lincolnshire Council and it was confirmed that permission had been granted. However, it must be frustrating if you are a would-be shopper visiting Brigg town centre on a busy Saturday and you can't find a space when four or more of these "NHS vehicles" are parked up over the weekend.
Brigg Blog would like to make a suggestion: Couldn't health workers be allowed to take these cars home with them at weekends? This would be a welcome gesture and would free up a few parking spaces.
We took some pictures "for the record" of car parking at the Angel this afternoon, showing some of the "NHS vehicles" among others belonging to the general public. We may use them on a future post about this issue, should anyone care to comment.

They're all legit, Nige - all have seasonal parking tickets....and for most of the time during the day the cars are being used by the community nursing team.
There is, however, a problem during the weekends when there does seem to be a pool of the cars.
Nevertheless. there are things to consider:
1. I assume that the community nurses have to use their own transport to and from work - so one NHS car is replaced by an individual nurse's private car. Consequently, would it not be more secure and more convenient if the nurses were allowed to take the NHS cars home?
2. As a private observation, these NHS cars appear to on contract, but many of them seem to over-sized for their purpose. For example, I spotted a 4x4 and multi-seat vehicles, possibly an overkill for the basic purpose of conveying nurses around the community on their routine rounds. Couldn't the NHS save money by using smaller cars?
3. Failing the above...couldn't the cars be pooled in the NHS premises ( the old Brigg hospital) on Wrawby Rd - thus freeing spaces in the Angel car-park?
lots of room down station road + health place
