We've lost count of the number of times that Brigg Blog has commented on vehicles passing unchecked and unchallenged through our pedestrianised town centre. The topic has also been discussed often, over many years, by councillors and the police at meetings and forums.
The other afternoon we saw two cars being driven from the Market Place through Wrawby Street. The drivers were not speeding but were not exactly proceeding at walking pace.
We just keep going round in circles when it comes to tackling the problem.
Police, increased CCTV presence, council traffic enforcement....You'd think something could, and should, be done. But we continue to see the pedestrian area being abused.
We've suggested the solution many times: Have a blitz, make the culprits pay and publicise what it costs them to deter other uncaring drivers who pass the No Entry signs and enter what's supposed to be a traffic-free area meant only for shoppers and delivery vehicles visiting businesses with bulky items, to load or unload.
