DON'T BE PUT OFF TAKING VACANT BRIGG ALLOTMENTS

Grammar School Road allotments, Brigg - pictured on Nigel Fisher's Brigg Blog

It appears some people are unwilling to take on allotments on Grammar School Road, Brigg, because they fear a new road is soon to be built and the plots will soon end up under hardcore.
Couns Carl Sherwood and Rob Waltham, who serve on North Lincolnshire Council as well as Brigg Town Council, have made it clear there are no immediate plans to redevelop the area occupied by the allotments.
Brigg Town Council, which runs our allotments, has three currently vacant, which is very unusual, as for some time every one had been snapped up and there was a waiting list.
The council rents out allotments in Redcombe Lane, as well as Grammar School Road.
If you are interested in taking on a vacant plot to grow your own veg, contact Brigg Town Council's office in the Angel Suite, off the Market Place, or email enquiries@briggmarkettown.co.uk

Does one still have to be a Brigg resident to qualify for an allotment?
I recall that BTC. some years ago, owing to the longish waiting list for allotments, redefined and confined the residence status to Brigg and, therefore, disqualified, for example, folks living in Scawby Brook.
If there are now vacant plots, perhaps this policy needs to be reviewed.
