CRIME PREVENTION IN BRIGG TODAY

Today saw a bike marking and immobilise event at Brigg police station, where people could take their valuable property to be stamped and recorded - the idea being to make it much easier to track down if stolen.
This is a worthy initiative and it's to be hoped there was a worthwhile response. We saw some folk waiting outside the Barnard Avenue station this morning, which was a good sign.
It's 30+ years since we last visited Brigg police station on a Saturday morning - the first job of the day in the newsroom diary for the on-duty reporter at the Lincolnshire Times, based at 57 Wrawby Street.
It was only a short walk across the Old Courts Road car park to inquire whether Chief Insp Bill Horsfield's team had any news for us. They generally did. Every burglary, case of criminal damage, incidence of poaching, or drunk and disorderly conduct was logged and the Press  alerted.
