DECISION MADE ON BRIGG & WOLDS WARD PUB FACING DEMOLITION

North Lincolnshire Council's first 'virtual' planning committee meeting was held yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) with a decision being made about a Brigg and Wolds Ward pub threatened with demolition.
The committee refused an application which was seeking permission to build new houses on the site of The Haymaker in Bonby.
However, Bonby Parish Council and various  objectors suggested the now disused pub should be retained rather than being lost to the community.
The Planning Committee, chaired by Coun Nigel Sherwood, accepted the planning officer's recommendation to refuse the application.
Councillors, staff and others interested in the meeting joined the online forum using mobile devices.
Various applications were decided in addition to Bonby's.
A virtual meeting was necessary because of Coronavirus emergency restrictions on gatherings.
Elected councillors on this committee usually meet once a month in a room at council HQ in Scunthorpe town centre.
Anyone refused planning permission by a local authority has the option to lodge an appeal.
