REMEMBRANCE CROSSES PLANTED AT BRIGG WAR MEMORIAL AHEAD OF SUNDAY'S 2019 SERVICE & WREATH LAYING

Pupils from Brigg schools planted crosses near the Monument war memorial yesterday - Friday, November 8, 2019 - in memory of The Fallen.

This is an annual event that has been undertaken in the town for many years and is co-ordinated by Brigg Town Council.
Ken Harrison, of Brigg Matters magazine, took these pictures featuring school pupils from Brigg Primary, Demeter House and Sir John Nelthorpe.
Many of them read personal poems/prose of remembrance at the service which was attended by a number of forces' veterans.
Two minutes' silence was observed, and Father Owain Mitchell, the Vicar of Brigg, presided.
Here's a reminder of the Remembrance Sunday times tomorrow (Sunday, November 10)...
The parade will assemble on Station Road, near Hewson House, from 9.25am.
It will make its way to St John's Church where a service will be held at 9.50am.
Afterwards the parade will march through the town centre to the Monument, where two minutes' silence will be observed from 11am.
Poppy wreaths will be laid on behalf of local groups and organisations.
Roads adjoining the Monument roundabout will be closed for a time either side of 11am - drivers please note.
Following the ceremony, people will be welcome to meet up at Brigg & District Servicemen's Club, on Coney Court, where a light buffet will be served from 1pm, with raffle held in aid of Help For Heroes.

The Britannia Inn - close to the Monument - will be opening from 8.30pm, with butties available for £1 as people get ready for the commemorations to follow.
Scores of people will assemble on footpaths adjoining the Monument roundabout to support the town's commemorations - 100 years on from our war memorial being unveiled in 1919 - funded by Alderman Harry Stamp, a local businessman.
Lest we forget...and wear your poppy with pride tomorrow.
