Brigg Town Business Partnership has now made all the necessary arrangements for The Tree of Light 2019 which will be erected in the town centre, near our main car park, this weekend - an indication that Christmas in coming.
As in previous years, people will be able to purchase memory cards from various outlets, write messages in memory of family members and friends and have been displayed, alongside many others, on the illuminated tree in Chapel Court.
This year's dedication ceremony will take place at 3pm this Saturday (November 16) and the tree will stay lit until 3pm on Saturday, January 4 when another communal get-together will take place to mark its removal.
Music will be played at both events - the tree representing "a symbol of hope and comfort for those who find Christmas a sad and lonely time," says the Partnership.
Cards are available from Design Orchard, E-Cig, Cure DM, Brigg Carers’ Support, St John’s Church, Brigg Methodist Church, The Deli Diner, Co-op Funeralcare, Naylors Funeral Directors and the Brigg Tourist Information Centre.
Raffle tickets are also available, with the winners being announced on January 4.
A Book of Remembrance will be located at the Tourist Information Centre, on the ground floor of the Buttercross in the Market Place, for those who want to record an entry for a loved one in addition to placing a memory card on the tree.
All proceeds from The Tree of Light 2019 will be donated to the Brigg Carers’ Support Centre and The Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy Fight.
