This year sees the 175th anniversary of St John’s Church in Brigg and also 100 years since the guns fell silent in the First World War, in which people from our town lost their lives.
St John's will be staging a flower festival from October 25 to 28 to mark both anniversaries.
The theme will be favourite hymns/bible readings and poetry/songs from the Great War, some of which will be included in the Songs of Praise service on the Sunday evening.
People from local voluntary organisations can get involved and place their arrangements on October 24, between 9am and 2pm.
The church will then be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9.30am to 3.30pm, and on the Sunday from 11am to 3pm, with the Songs of Praise Service at 6pm.

...but I hear that the church is also holding a centenary service for the formation of the RAF...can't quite understand why such service is to be held in May, when RAF was formed from the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Navel Air Service, o 1st April, 1918
