BRIGG CHASING CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE FINAL WEEKEND OF THE SEASON

Brigg Town cricketers still have a chance of winning the Lincolnshire County Cricket League division four championship during the final weekend of the season.
But their hopes of doing so were reduced at the weekend when fellow challengers Cleethorpes 4ths narrowly won their game in hand against Scunthorpe Town 3rds to go nine points ahead with only one game to play.
It looks as though Brigg will need to take the maximum 20 points when winning at Horncastle on Saturday, September 9 and then hope Cleethorpes lose their Sunday game at Haxey 2nds - or it is rained off, in which case five points go to each team.

However, Haxey currently prop up the table.
Whether or not Brigg Town collect the coveted green championship pennant, they  have had an enjoyable and successful season, although refurbishment work required at the Recreation Ground means they have had to play home games at Hibaldstow and Keelby.
Town are hoping to play at the Rec again from spring 2018.
An initial ground inspection has now been carried out, with a final one to follow.
The inspector's recommendations will be considered by the league at its annual general meeting in October, with Brigg hoping to be given the go-ahead to play home league games in the town for the first time in four years.
The Lincolnshire County Cricket League, founded in 1963 and currently operating five divisions, is sponsored by Readers.
