PLAQUE TO BE UNVEILED IN MEMORY OF BRIGG SPORTSWOMAN

A well-known Brigg  sportswoman will be remembered at a ceremony on Sunday (September 10).
Brid Vaughan, pictured, was a renowned hockey player and club official for many years.
Sadly, she did not live to see the new 'Blue Astro' all-weather floodlit pitch open early this year.

She had been one of those who campaigned for such a facility to be provided in the town where hockey is such a strong sport.
On  Sunday, Brigg Hockey Club will host men's and ladies' charity matches at the Rec.
These will be in  memory of Brid, with all the money raised going to a charity that helped support her during her illness.
A plaque will be unveiled after both games have been played.
The ladies' match will start at noon and be followed by the men's at 1.30pm.
Hot and cold drinks and cakes will be on sale throughout and donations to the charity will be welcomed.

A funeral service for Brid was held on December 15, 2016 at St John's Church, Brigg.
She was a former chairwoman of the Briggensians’ Association, representing former staff and pupils of Brigg Girls’ High School, Brigg Grammar School, Sir John Nelthorpe School and Brigg Sixth Form College.
