BRIGG PAVEMENT LICENCE APPLICATIONS CONSIDERED BY COUNCIL

When North Lincolnshire Council decides two applications for new Brigg town centre Pavement Licences, the authority will be asked to consider how the tables and chairs proposed will fit in with the layout of market stalls on Thursdays and Saturdays.
YellowBelly Pizza and the Woolpack pub are now seeking permission to put furniture on their frontages in the Market Place for customers to use.
Having been consulted about the proposals as part of the licensing process, Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee discussed both applications during a meeting held on Monday evening (August 17) and had no objections in principal.
However, the Town Council is asking the North Lincolnshire authority to consider the close proximity of the tables and chairs to market stalls, including those erected for the monthly and well-attended farmers' events.
We should stress that during Monday night's discussions, mention was made of the need to support businesses in these difficult times - a reference to the Coronavirus emergency.
It was also suggested that, because of the current situation, some customers might prefer to sit outside in the fresh air.
As well as being the local licensing authority, North Lincolnshire Council also operates the markets held in Brigg town centre.
It will now consider the YellowBelly and Woolpack applications, submitted under the new Business and Planning Act 2020.
