MAJOR BRIGG STREET EXTENDED

One of the best-known streets in Brigg has been extended, according to a map used by the police.
Bridge Street, pictured above, now stretches over the County Bridge, beyond Silversides and as far as the mini-roundabout at Fountain Corner, Scawby Brook, it suggests.
This map  is used to make public the monthly crime statistics but fails to recognise the existence of Scawby Road.
We make that clear just in case the good people of Broughton (Water's Edge housing estate)  and Scawby Brook (Victoria Cottages, Silversides & River Meadow) think this is some sort of Brigg take-over in the making.

Pictured  here is an area of the map used by www.police.co.uk for statistical purposes. Just to show you the evidence.
Of course, this is not the only local boundary quirk.

Brigg Marina, pictured above, is a long way east of Mill Lane (just a decent stone's throw over the Ancholme from Cadney Road)  but is classed as being in Scawby, although many people wrongly believe that the New River Ancholme marks the boundary between Brigg and our neighbouring village.
Some homes on the newest part of the Springbank housing estate are over the border into Wrawby.
The bottom end of Westrum Lane, Brigg, is not only in Bigby parish but in West Lindsey district and within the boundary of Lincolnshire County Council not our own North Lincolnshire. Nor is Brigg Garden Centre within the town's boundaries.

We could go on.
Clearly there have to be borders but some of these examples make you wonder whether someone, somewhere should be taking a look.

We are sure that local police officers and PCSOs are fully aware of the difference between Bridge Street and Scawby Road when it comes to "calls for service" from members of the public.
The "stats" website is a national initiative covering the country and not just Humberside Police's beat!
