YEARS' HARD WORK NOW PAYING OFF FOR BRIGG

Brigg Blog admires the hard work put in by dedicated volunteers to publicise our town's Saturdays-only train service, attract additional passengers and press for more trains to be provided on more days of the week.
This prompted us to look back through our extensive online archive to find out the origins.
Back in April  2008 - nine years ago - Brigg Blog reported on a public meeting about improving rail transport that we had attended in the Angel Suite.
Our piece was headed On board with campaign and explained that there had been a good turn-out, with a renowned railway author and historian among the assembled gathering.
It's interesting to re-read what was said and by whom, in the light of how things have progressed in recent years.
We concluded our 2008 piece by observing: "After the meeting closed, many people stayed on to talk about railway matters in the Angel Suite, while others visited Brigg shops, the Saturday market and local pubs. So holding the public meeting in Brigg helped put trade the way of a number of local businesses."
