MINI-ROUNDABOUT MIGHT HELP BRIGG TRAFFIC FLOW

A car on the A18 in Bridge Street, about to approach the splay entrance to Island Carr (left). Would a mini-roundabout be a welcome addition here to improve traffic flows?

Would it help the flow of traffic in Brigg - and cut delays for drivers - if the highway experts were asked to take a look at installing a mini-roundabout where Island Carr Road joins Bridge Street on the A18?
It's often very difficult to turn right when exiting the petrol station/Costcutter shop and also when attempting to do likewise from Mill Lane, as thousands of vehicles use this road every day.
If we had a mini-roundabout at Island Carr, drivers could go left when leaving the petrol station and Mill Lane, drive a short distance along Bridge Street and then do a U-turn by using the new turning circle.
The splay entrance being very wide, the roundabout would not need to be particularly "mini" but could have a decent turning circle.
Many frustrated petrol station customers currently take this route but have to make undesirable turns within the splay entrance to Island Carr Road - against oncoming traffic - and then have to wait for a gap  to appear on Bridge Street before they can proceed.
What we are proposing is no different to the long-standing mini-roundabout down at Fountain's Corner, Scawby Brook, which gained official approval many years ago.
So suggestions that a  mini-roundabout on Bridge Street might be out of the question because it's an A-road would not not hold water. There is a precedent!

as you say when turning right against heavy traffic from the petrol station I always turn left & turn into the ex falcon entrance.Having a mini roundabout would help traffic flow as traffic coming over the bridge would have to give way to traffic turning into carr lane or turning around, but would it mean a NO RIGHT TURN along bridge st ?.

Tricky one this......a roundabout, just after a humped- back bridge (travelling towards Brigg) could worsen the situation.
The sight lines all along Bridge Street are very poor...It is always very dodgy turning right...from the Leisure Centre to Yarborough Hunt.
The additional problem when emerging from Island Carr, LC and Waters Edge is that a driver has little warning of what traffic is approaching from the other side of the bridge.....and, similarly, a motorist on the A18 has poor vision of what is over the other side of the bridge. Suddenly encountering a mini- roundabout....possibly with unseen stationary traffic could increase the incidence of rear shunts...
It is rumoured that P&B are relocating to Ancholme Way....if true, a full-size O in the area of their front forecourt could improve access to the side streets in that area, as well as improving the sight-lines on that dodgy S bend.....then perhaps, there could be a one way right turn on a section of Bridge Street....although that, in itself, would only be a partial solution.....there's the issue of turning right from the LC and Waters Edge.....black spots waiting for an accident..my personal worry is a school swimming coach from the LC encountering a HGV crossing the bridge......perhaps a solution would be to re-site/re-route the LC entrance and/or exit through the old Sugar Beet Clubhouse site.....
