BRIGG BOAT ATTRACTING ATTENTION ON THE ANCHOLME

PICTURE AND REPORT BY KEN HARRISON

An unusual, but nostalgic sight in modern-day Brigg is a narrowboat moored alongside the newly re-furbished wharf wall near the White Hart.
It is reputed that the crew nipped ashore and tasted the vittles and much-needed liquid succour after sailing from Hull.
Perhaps with the proposals to improve the riverscape and to encourage more river-based activities, this could be an example of things to come...
NF adds: On Saturday night we crossed the County Bridge and spotted the boat moored alongside the pub beer garden, next to the recently restored riverside wall. It's the sort of scene you see on the Norfolk Broads and fits in well with efforts to realise the potential of the River Ancholme when it comes to attracting visitors and tourists.
