MIDGET GEM OF A BRIGG SHOP

We hadn't been in Natalie Sankey's Brigg town centre sweet shop for far too long - until this morning, when we were seeking an edible gift for an aged relative.
It was pretty busy, being:

  1. Market day
  2. The school holidays

Tinned mints in hand, we  made a mental note to pay a return visit to this 'midget gem' in Wrawby Street.
It's an old-fashioned sweet shop, almost directly across the road from where 'Goodie' Binns used to dispense the gob-stoppers!
Brigg is renowned for its speciality shops, of which this is a fine example.

What ever happened to Spangles?

As little urchin trudging the streets of Liverpool with my dirty knees and short pants, I recall that one our favourite cowboys, Hopalong Cassidy use to advertise Spangles.
There was a picture of him alongside a box of Spangles with the slogan that proclaimed something like, 'Spangles - the sweets that make you go gay'
How times have changed!
