BRIGG AREA JOBS MAKE THE GRADE

Brigg Blog was interested to read an advert in the window of Martin’s shop, In Wrawby Street, headed Potato Graders Wanted.

Winding the clock back many decades, Brigg schoolchildren used to earn good money potato-picking for local farmers, including the Day family concerns at Wrawby and Cadney.

Many Brigg women also had day jobs working on the land.

Fewer people are needed to run farms these days, with increased mechanisation. But the advert in Martin’s window shows there are still some openings.

You can choose to work between one and five days a week. So things are pretty flexible.
