Brigg Bronze Age Boat will be the subject of the lecture by Dr Kevin Leahy (above, left) on Thursday 19th March at Hibaldstow Church Hall (7.30pm).
Admission is £1 for Hibaldstow History Group members and £2 for the rest of us.

There are two known Brigg Bronze Age boats...However, there is very strong suspicion that there are other similar boats to be discovered about Brigg.
The Ancholme valley began to silt up with marine deposits circa 900BC.....and the Brigg Bronze settlement was abandoned circa 650BC.
During the intervening period, it is suggested that river and sea craft were progressively abandoned and subsequently covered....
Bronze Age is flexible term - the Iron Age was emerging in mainland Europe circa 900BC...it hit parts of Britain circa 800BC..but it is thought that the Brigg Bronze Age settlement never quite got there..despite having an extensive iron ore source nearby (pre Scunny ore sites)...
