A picture of the new Brigg Post Office, in Bigby Street, appeared in the Hull Times weekly newspaper on February 27, 1937 leaving us to conclude that it had opened just a few days earlier.
Today, of course, it is no longer the Post Office but remains the sorting office for our area and has a useful "front office" facility where you can go and collect parcels and registered mail.
The Post Office is now housed within Martin's shop in Wrawby Street.
Many folk were unhappy when the Post Office was relocated but it seems to run very well and the more central location is an advantage.
The original Post Office building is a fine, surviving example of pre-war architecture in similar style to the former HQ in Scunthorpe at the junction of Church Lane and Oswald Road.
If you are wondering how Brigg Blog came upon the date in 1937, we were browsing the online archive catalogue of the old Hull Times for another reason and chanced upon this entry.

.....so the assumption that the keystone above the door once bore Edward VIII's crest is possibly misleading.
Edward (although not crowned) was king for less than a year - Jan to Dec 1936.
Or, is it!
If the sorting office was officially opened in February, 1937, most of it would have been built by 1936...and certainly the doorway on the ground floor would have been completed well-before the end of 1936.
....so who's got Eddie the 8th's keystone !
Not at all unusual to have an official opening after the completing of a building or project. And not at all unusual to record the start date/year on a building, rather than when it was completed (eg Brigg Grammar).
