CRAFTS GALORE AND CELEBRATIONS IN BRIGG

Brigg is the place to be on Saturday 1 June with an array of stalls at the craft fair and the Blessing of the Town’s Pumps.
A fantastic selection of crafts will be for sale in the Market Place at the craft fair from 9am to 3pm. There will be everything from knitwear and wooden toys to vintage items and artwork.
You will also be able to find baby products, blacksmith goods, memory boxes, novelties and themed items – just to name a few.
Brigg Town Business Partnership has revived the Pump Blessing event to coincide with the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Queen’s coronation.
Brigg will get into the spirit of celebrating by putting bunting up across the town and shop windows will be decorated.
The town has two historic water pumps – one close to County Bridge and the other on the corner of Grammar School Road. Each of the pumps will be decorated with flowers sponsored by Brigg Rotary. They will be blessed by Rev Enid Knowles and Brigg Town Councillor, Alec Depledge.
There will be dancing in the Market Place from 10am provided by the Grimsby Morris Men, the Tatterfoals Morris Group and the Bootleggers who are an Appalachian dance group. Music will be supplied by the Bootleggers and old style string band.
The first of the two grand processions will lead everyone to the pump near County Bridge at 11am. The second parade will leave the Market Place at 1pm and go to the pump on Grammar School Road.
Both parades will be accompanied by 20 local Brownies as flower maidens.
A North Lincolnshire Council spokeswoman, said: “It is going to be a wonderful day in Brigg with the huge array of crafts and entertainment. There really is something for everyone. It is excellent news that the pump blessing ceremonies have been revived. This is a well-known tradition in the town and I’m sure the day will be full of celebrations not to be missed.
“Brigg has lots to offer, so pop down to the Market Place and take part in the festivities. It is also a great opportunity to wander around the boutique shops and discover Brigg.”
